BARBAAR

The first evening show from The AmProProject, choreographed by Dries Verstreepen.
A performance inspired by music of Danheim and Heilung, choreographer Dries Verstreepen translates the music into dynamic scenes, fluent, rough movements, and beautiful images.
BARBAAR is a dynamic contemporary dance piece that delves into the rich and complex tapestry of what it means to be a "barbarian." This performance reinterprets the ancient and modern connotations of the term, exploring the dualities of civilization and wilderness, sophistication and rawness, integration and alienation.
Through a series of evocative movements and powerful choreography, the dancers embody the spirit of various so-called barbarian tribes, from the fierce Visigoths and Ostrogoths to the nomadic Huns and the enigmatic Vandals.
The piece compares the untamed energy and strength of these groups with the structured elegance of Roman civilization, highlighting both the conflicts and the cultural fusion that arose from their interactions.
